Abstract

This chapter describes several nanopatterning experiments based on soft lithographic techniques such as replica molding, molding in capillaries, and contact printing and etching. The experiments take advantage of readily available commercial products: compact discs (CDs), glass slides, and optically transparent polymers such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polyurethane (PU). Because these experiments are inexpensive and do not require specialized instrumentation, they can be incorporated into both advanced high school and undergraduate curricula.
